How much imagination is required to reach our reality? And what happens once we arrive there?
إندشار indishār is a Tunisian portmanteau word that combines the meanings vonإنديثر indiʈār «to fade» and إنتشار intiʃār «to spread out» — created during a time when the arbitrariness of digital reality is increasingly obfuscating clarity and turning it into a fading memory.
The exhibit indishār is a media sculpture consisting of overlapping calligraphies, which are dynamically atomized by a moving light source and constantly seek to reassemble into their original brushstrokes.
The individual written images of different origins are represented by a white conglomerate of collected materials on a canvas – on this sculpture, they evade the clarity of written words as an ephemeral layer of meaning.
Created in the summer of 2022 in the medina of تونس Tunis/Tunisia, whose variety of characteristic tile patterns adorn the transmogrifying background of the canvas.
